about

Playtime by ''The Ettore Carrucci Quartet'' entirely recorded on a Studer A80 1/2 '' tape via an SSL desk in Rome's ledgendary recording studios ''Forum Music'' where the likes of Ennio Morricone has reorded.

The Artists

Amidst the Italian Jazz Landscape there is emerging a new generation of musicians that are exploring the innate vocabulary of musicality that suggests a succint commentary on the exciting new Italian Jazz Landscape. Featuring an assured blend of lyricism and maturity, The Ettore Carucci Quartet is one of the emerging talents that reflects in their compositions a sense of restraint that many of the young players in Italy seem to embody. ''The Quiet release'' embodies this sense of the new Italian cool. It's the next point from the Dolce Vita into a more restraint realism representing a very honest view of the Italian musical sensibility. There is no need for triumphs and there is no need for falls, here it is a music that speaks gently of balance and integrity with a ''lilting quality''.

Where is the Ettore Carruci Quartet from?

Puglia, the south of Italy, one gets the curious sensation of a timeless quality, partly hidden in the serenely azure seas that envelops the adriatic coast and in the ancient Greek buildings that line the coastal center's of the main cities. One hears the resonances of this landscape in Ettore's compositions, a balance of strength and relaxed lyricism that usually comes with time and experience.
